Prep Work

Impacta-Regupol Rubber Underlayment and the flooring material must acclimatize, in their sealed packaging, in the room where they are installed for at least 48 hours, at temperature of at least 65ºF.

Before starting Installation make sure the sub floor is permanently dry and free of dirt, dust, grease and other foreign matter.

Note: On the 12mm model it is recommend that you unroll the material and flip it to allow the natural curl of the roll to relax.

Wood Floor Construction

Sub floor should be properly leveled, structurally sound and clean. Plywood sub flooring should be of a good grade.  Variations in floor level over 1/8” within 3 feet span should be leveled before installing underlayment.  Any nails or other protrusions should be pounded flat or removed.

Concrete Slab

Inspect concrete sub floor for any open cracks and fill with a high grade patch.  Remove any excess concrete lumps or residue that may interfere with the installation of Impacta-Regupol.  The concrete slab should be permanently dry, apply a good quality concrete waterproof sealer or install a 4 mil vapor barrier.

Installation of a Floating Flooring

Start in a corner and roll out Impacta-Regupol rubber. Cut the Impacta-Regupol to maintain a 1/4” gap from the wall. Continue to rolling out Impacta-Regupol adjacent to the last row until the entire area is covered. Make sure the edges are tightly butted together, both side by side & end by end.  If desired a good quality duct tape can be used to cover the seams. Install floated laminate or engineered hardwood flooring per manufacturers written instructions.  The perimeter gap can be filled with Sound Seal acoustic caulk.  Hold trim board 1/16” off floor to avoid flanking paths.

Installation of Glue Down Flooring

Note: When using Impacta-Regupol rubber in glue down installation it is important to note that the underlayment needs to be glued to the sub floor.  Always used the same adhesive to bond the rubber to the sub floor and the wood to the rubber.  Please insure that you followed all prep work for concrete slabs (see above).  Recommended adhesive: Sika T-55, Sika-35, Dri Tac 7600, Chemrex CX-941.  Use 1/8” x 1/8” x 3/16” V– notched trowel.  Start in a corner and roll out Impacta-Regupol.  Cut the Impacta-Regupol rubber to maintain a 1/4” gap from the walls. Roll up the roll half way and apply adhesive on exposed area, roll back over adhesive flat trowel any air pockets, continue with other side the same way.  Continue rolling out and gluing down Impacta-Regupol rubber the same manner until the entire area is covered .  Make sure the edges are tightly butted together, both side by side & end by end. Use a 50—100 lb roller to fully bond Impacta-Regupol rubber to sub floor. After 24 hours follow manufacturers written instructions for gluing engineered hardwood to Impacta-Regupol.  Hold trim board 1/16” off floor to avoid flanking paths.
